Preface to a book I hope to publish by this time next year…
Born at Flint Osteopathic Hospital in Flint, MI in August of 1974, Steven’s life was set on course to become another story atypical to so many of his peers. His father was a hardworking man born into the “All-American” family consisting of three siblings, which included two brothers and a sister, a stay-at-home mother, and his father. Not much is known about Steven’s mother other than the fact that she was adopted. Steven’s parents’ marriage didn’t last long due to the infidelity of his mother…they were divorced when he was only 14 months old. The ensuing two years would be filled with serious neglect by Steven’s mother due to her alcohol and drug abuse as well as her wanton sexual desires. Steven was consistently left to fend for himself as well as for a younger sibling at times due to his mother’s habits and lack of taking on her maternal responsibility. Being left alone in his crib in soiled diapers for hours on end would have an undeniably serious psychological effect on Steven and his father’s eventual remarriage only resulted in another rejection of Steven by his step-mother. He would go on to be diagnosed with encopresis, enuresis, and Attention Deficit Disorder. A later psychological evaluation would also label him as “passive, impulsive, irresponsible, manipulative in nature, passive-aggressive, narcissistic and pleasure-seeking” with the ultimate diagnosis being “Conduct Disorder Undersocialized Aggressive Type”. Thankfully for Steven, his paternal grandparents would often take on the role of his parents and would ultimately become his guardians prior to his early teenage placement in foster care and eventually Teen Ranch. This is the true story of Steven’s first 18 years.
