Taqwa

You probably already heard it many times before. Umar RA was asked about the definition of taqwa. He simply said that taqwa is like you walk on a path full of thorn. What will you do? Shahabat said: we will be very careful walking. Then Umar RA said: indeed. That’s exactly taqwa.

And then someone said (sorry I forgot who) : the difference between true people (with taqwa) and false people (no taqwa) is by they ability to repel wrong doings, even to smallest sins. We know that everyone can get up to pray tahajjud, everyone can do fasting in ramadhan, everyone can go hajj (if they have money). But not everyone can repel the temptation of bribery, not everyone can reject an offer from beautiful lady, not everyone can say no to pornography when no one is around, not everyone can say no lie at all time, even when they’re joking.

It took so much effort and great awareness. I am too so far from the what so called taqwa. Only people with God’s help and guidance are able to do that. I hope that you and me will be able to achieve that degree, with help and guidance from Allah SWT. Aamiin.
