Is Your Ego Worth It?

Ego: a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.

Ego is the biggest problem facing America. And it is not in just way. In America, we have a plague that attacks 2 fronts where one side is people with too much ego and the other side people with too little ego.

Let us first discuss the people with too much Ego. People have begun to have an inflated view of self-importance where they choose their needs over the needs of the group.

For example, in the work world we there are huge egos all around. People that went to good schools that believe they have an edge on you or someone daddy knows some else’s daddy so they got the job. In environments such as this, ego is dangerous.

It hinders one’s ability to learn from others and even work with others. This could lead to projects taking longer and maybe unnecessary tension in the workspace.

But this is good for you because while everyone has their head in their ass, you can lower your ego and learn from the people around you. Learn from the people in the positions you want to be. When you humble yourself and ask others to teach you the skills you need to grow, then you will be much farther in the long term than your peers.

Also, let us not forget about those with too little ego. Ego is this important because you still have to value yourself. When you are missing an ego you don’t value yourself, so others will also see the same.

That’s why the ego is like salt. A little bit makes the dish taste delicious. Too much will hurt you and maybe even the people you serve it to.

Our society seems to be built on spineless people. We’ve been conditioned to run from danger and not help our fellow man. And we let people walk all over us and just watch.

We must retake our egos and show that we deserve respect.
