Here’s why you want to get Xbox One’s free game this month.
As it has gone since July 2013, Xbox has it’s monthly Games With Gold program, where in the 1st and the 16th of each month Microsoft releases a new game that is free to own, so long as you have their Xbox Live Subscription. These titles range anywhere from new and fresh arcade games, to Triple A titles that have stood the test of time, to anything Microsoft finds interesting and thinks the community needs to play.
This month particularly, beginning September 1st, has a game that’s been a personal favorite of mine since it’s initial release date on November 22, 2013. That game is Forza Motorsport 5, A simulation Racing game that was a near-launch title for the Xbox One with a plethora of cars and tracks to choose from to make yourself a racing career.

If you aren’t familiar with the Forza franchise, here’s a brief overview. You are doing some of the purest racing that there is to offer on a console. It is very simulation heavy, which means it has the intention to be as realistic and as nitty-gritty as possible. You have to worry about everything that’s going on inside and outside of the car, and learning the feel from every type of car that could be imagined. Now, if a simulation and highly realistic racing game sounds daunting to you, don’t fret. Forza can be set to be easier with much less to worry about to begin with, so you can get your rhythm behind the wheel before you up the ante and get specific and tune your vehicle to perfection.
That’s just about the rundown of Forza 5. Why is this game a must-have for anyone and everyone who can get the download, you may ask? Well, for starters, it’s free. A free game always is worth the grab, and if the niche of being behind the virtual wheel doesn’t suit your liking, it’s worth the shot since it’s costing you nothing at all. But more importantly, if you do find yourself loving the feeling of nailing the corner perfectly and zooming yourself into first place, this is a great stepping stone for the highly anticipated Forza Motorsport 7, which comes out only a month later on October 3rd, 2017. Personally, I couldn’t be more excited, since I’ve raced over thousands of hours on the Forza Franchise, which is barely even an exaggeration, and I’d love to find more players to experience the action with.
So where do you stand? Is September 1st going to be the day of Forza Motorsport, or will you pass the offer and wait until the mid-month to grab the other free game that will be offered? If you love cars and speed, or if you just love a fresh and new experience, I couldn’t recommend it enough.
