Shin Splints or Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) can be caused by a number of factors that may include a change in: footwear, running surface, exercise volume or intensity, and/or poor gait.
Normally symptoms arise in individuals with weak anterior lower leg muscles (tibialis anterior) and tight posterior lower leg muscles (calves, soleus, achilles).
The following exercise will help you manage your symptoms and accelerate your recovery. Try 3 sets of 30 seconds a couple times per day to start.
