Our PPC team achieves improved year-on-year CTR

We couldn’t be prouder of our PPC team — we analysed the CTR they were achieving from January to March 2014 for our travel clients, and we are pleased to announce that this has improved year-on-year for January 2015. Well done team!

Although we are already proud of our Devon PPC agency team for achieving a CTR of 5.85% from January to March in 2014, to improve this to 6.38% for January 2015 is brilliant. January is the busiest trading month of the year for many of our clients as we are travel marketing specialists, which we think makes this a really impressive achievement that shows that we really do add value to our clients’ businesses.

Another hugely important thing to take away from this is that it is possible to keep a steady CPC (cost per click) despite signs suggesting that CPCs in general are increasing. WordStream’s Larry Kim found in his study of around 2,000 small to mid-sized businesses that CPCs on desktop and mobile were increasing, which tallied with other studies according to this article from Search Engine Land (scroll to about halfway down).

As you can see in our data, although there have been fluctuations in CPCs across a number of different areas of the travel industry, with some increasing and some decreasing, we have managed to keep our average CPCs steady whilst still achieving an improved CTR. We have done this by optimising accounts with carefully chosen keywords and efficient account structure, and by making sure our quality scores are high — according to Google, we manage our PPC clients to achieve an average keyword quality score of 8.5 out of 10, which puts us in the top 10% of all agencies. We like to think we’re bucking the trend in all the right ways when it comes to the PPC services we offer!
