Inspired By Business Insider, I Updated My Resume To The Likes Of Elon Musk & Mark Zuckerberg
As some recruiters in silicon valley might know, I’m currently on the search for the next exciting opportunity.
Frankly speaking, my current resume is fairly dull. I mean its well organized and looks fairly good, but its not catchy or eye popping in any way. So with it, I had a few chances to showcase my work but overall the response has been stale, leaving me subdued. Given that I’m looking to make a career change, the struggle is expected, nevertheless I should try to push things in my favor.
So inspired by increasing number of resume-related articles and videos by BusinessInsider, I decided to redo my resume completely. But instead of going with Business Insider’s recommended services like Enhancv or Novorésumé, I decided to go at it myself with the help of good old Pages — I know I know, some people love it, most people hate it — I don’t mind it.
The reason I didn’t go with the above services is two-fold:
1. Enhancv charges you on a monthly basis once you go beyond the basics. Thats problematic to me because I only need to create my resume once every time I look for a job and I can’t justify paying monthly to have the “flexibility” to edit it whenever.
2. Most of these online services are like the resume templates you get in Word or Pages but online. Personally thats the reason I didn’t like Novorésumé as much as I did Enhancv.
