Amani’s Crowdfunding Problem: Access

“Entrepreneur Amani has an idea for a solar powered water pump that will improve water supply in his region. With the help of accelerators he has applied to crowdfund on several platforms in the past but has not been accepted due to his geographical location and lack of commercial appeal.

In his part of the world, funding options are limited, and despite his expertise in the field, he is struggling to get his idea off the ground. He is not tech savvy and may need some assistance to use the platform and market his campaign.

The Acorn Solution:

Step 1: Creating Access

At least 70% of crowdfunding revenue is currently focused on North America and Europe, whilst less than 1% reaches the African continent. The Acorn platform will be truly global.

Working with local accelerators, Amani would be directed to submit his idea to a platform that can help.

Step 2: Project Screening

Amani’s project idea will go through a strict legal and ethical screening process to decide if it can be accepted.

The Acorn platform will accept any legal and ethical project in any country worldwide. This will be based on EU & Gibraltar law, and decided by a legal team and an ethics board.

If the project is accepted, the founder will be invited to build their founder profile.

Step 3: Profile Screening

Once approved, Amani will be able to complete his founder profile which will be assessed for his capability to use the platform and run a crowdfunding campaign.

Since Amani needs some additional support in using the platform, his profile may require some amendments on first application. Amani will be referred to our founders knowledge base and accelerator support — this will give him a much better chance of being able to run a successful campaign .

Step 4: Founders Knowledge Base

Amani will receive additional support in the form of guides and accelerator support to ensure that he understands how to use the platform and manage his campaign. By providing extra support at this stage we can give him the best chance of success.

Step 5: Project Accepted

Once Amani’s profile is accepted he will be able to host his project on the Acorn platform opening up his potential to thousands of backers around the world.
