Dawn
Woken by an urgency quickening my pulse, the moment to worry is approaching. Outside there is only dark.
A few hours and I start over, inaugurating another story. Attempts to steady my breath are futile and fog begins to lift from brain.
The morning will be breaking on the horizon but the world is not my blank slate. There are miles to go, decisions to make.
The sky is deep blue but the vignette shows the change as we rotate on. My head fills with the lists that dreams kept away as my body begins to shift.
Bidding farewell to twisted sheets and dimpled pillows, I open my window and let the noises of the dark into my room.
If I stand long enough I will glimpse the light and feel a reprieve.
In the dawn light, possibilities fill the air like pollen.
