JOUR 225 Exercise 8.2
Faculty Death
58-year-old education professor Elizabeth Billson passed away late last night. Billson worked for the university until she was readmitted to the hospital a few months ago. She has suffered from cancer for the past ten years. During that time she faithfully continued to teach. She had been with the university for 36 years. It is estimated that she taught over 10-thousand future teachers during her career. Last year Billson was awarded the university’s outstanding professor award. The university is mourning her death and plan to have a public funeral soon.
Wreck
Two trucks collided on I-59 last night. Both drivers are unhurt, but are being cited for speeding and reckless driving. I-59 is currently undergoing repairs. Only two narrow lanes were opened to traffic where the trucks collided head-on. Even though the drivers braked, they still hit each other. The wreck resulted in a traffic jam. It blocked the road both ways for 45 minutes. Fuel from both trucks spilled onto the highway and caused an oil slick. Unfortunately, one of the trucks was refrigerated and lost 10-thousand dollars’ worth of goods.
