“To have a portfolio of articles you could show is not a bad thing.” — there’s nothing stopping our writers showcasing their portfolio on their own websites and on Twitter, linking through to their articles on economist.com. I agree: it’s important for career progression that a journalist is able to get credit for their work.
“having one voice is a good thing for a corporate culture which values team work, collaborative approaches instead of stardom of a few extraordinarily talented people”—this is what I mean when I say that the words are more important than who wrote them.
