Time to Accept Science in CryptoWars

There is a good reason why we have cryptographers, scientists, physicists, mathematicians, scholars, engineers and other highly qualified professionals who understand the dangers of inserting backdoors into crypto, and who can explain very clearly that there is no such thing as only the good guys having access to backdoors. If a backdoor is wired into any product, be it software or hardware, everyone has access to it. From that point on, it is only a matter of time in the race of who can break in first.

Notice that it is not extremists, terrorists, criminals and other individuals of dubious character protesting online against crypto backdoors. It is law-abiding, educated scholars. Will someone — anyone — with a law enforcement badge bother to listen? Or are they just going to stick their fingers in their ears, close their eyes, and scream “bad guys” and “dark places”? You cannot win this argument with demagoguery, rhetoric, fear-mongering, innuendo, FUD, sensationalism, gossip or propaganda. None of those tactics will invalidate sound science.

A badge will not automatically give anyone a degree or a thorough understanding of all the science disciplines involved in cryptography. However, we understand your concern.
