Is Moving to the Tenderloin a Good Idea?

I built this app for a coding challenge showing the number of crime incidents in SF for December of 2015 and thought it was an interesting visualization because areas that people have been telling me are “sketchy” (such as Tenderloin and South San Francisco), actually contain the lowest number of incidents in December.

Obviously, this visualization is by not statistically significant because this view is just highlighting one month, volume of incidents don’t paint a full picture, plus a host of potential other reasons. Also, knowing the severity of each incident is equally if not more important, but perhaps I should start looking at places in the Tenderloin…
