Lately, I’ve been considering Oxblood, as well as Bordeaux and Burgundy, shoes. They go well with jeans, and provide a nice contrast.

Here are some oxblood leather shoes that have come to my attention lately:

Paul Evans Newman Chukka Boot

Paul Evans — Newman Chukka Boot — Oxblood

The Paul Evans Newman Chukka Boot — Oxblood is quite popular at the moment, but comes at a price of $399. At the moment, it’s easy to get $50 off on their web site, but it’s unlikely to find this particular shoe at a further discount at this time. The color and quality are unique, and this model has received many positive reviews.

The Paul Evans — The Smith Low-Top Sneaker — Oxblood is far more casual in comparison to the chukka boot above, but comes at a lower price of $299 (less $50 with the discount).

Scarosso Udo Cordovan Sneakers

The Scarosso Udo Cordovan Sneakers, categorized as “dark brown” calf on their website, retails for $215. Scarosso sometimes offers $50 off specials, as well as seasonal discounts of up to 20% off to its followers.

Scarosso Oxford Whole Cut & Derby

Above are two Scarosso shoes I recently ordered as each of these were on sale in conjunction with 20% discount. I will likely write reviews on each of the above in the near future, but it appears that the Scarosso “bordeaux” color is slightly darker than the oxbloods offered by Paul Evans.

Oxblood vs. Bordeaux vs. Burgundy

Below is a graphic depicting the difference between Oxblood vs. Burgundy from a simple Google search:

Oxblood vs. Burgundy

From the site:

“Burgundy leans more toward the violet end of the rainbow, while oxblood leans more toward the red and yellow. In the above color wheel, the colors are portrayed much brighter. But this helps to show the subtle difference in hue a little better.”

Also,

“Oxblood is not the same color as burgundy. Oxblood is a deep, brownish red hue while burgundy is more blackish purple.”
