Thanks for the comment Cynthia Shallit. At the moment the system relies on users to flag suspected fake news, which is then judged by a person working for one of the face-checking organisations (which include the AP and Snopes). I wonder how many times the humans in this chain come across legitimate comment content flagged as fake news, and whether that hampers their efforts.
Your point raises another question: does the method struggle to discern real fake news from content that is simply flagged as fake by people who oppose the views it contains?
