More than 600 Adelanto residents joined city officials in lighting up City Hall. The Adelanto Christmas tree lighting took place on Dec. 3, kicking off a month of holiday celebrations and events around town including the Adelanto Christmas Parade, a bicycle giveaway, the Aim High in Adelanto food distribution, and a toy giveaway.

Those in attendance were treated to choral music from West Creek Elementary and Morgan Kincaid Preparatory School before the official tree lighting. The George Magnet School band also performed.

Then it was time for the oohs and awes of onlookers as the tree lit up without a hitch. Despite not being in the forecast, snow fell, if just for a moment.

After the big event, residents joined the mayor and city council members and their families in the council chambers to partake of hot chocolate, candy canes and cookies. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand for those who wanted their photo taken with the North Pole residents.
