Realizing both a campaign promise and a personal dream, last week Adelanto Mayor pro tem Jermaine Wright, Sr. held the grand opening his new restaurant, Fat Boyz Grill. It was the first grand opening of a retail business in the city in a year.
“This is a labor of love and a vision my wife and I had for a long time,” Wright said to his guests. “We had promised that we were going to put a point-of-sales here in Adelanto and this is our opportunity to do that.”
Wright is partnering with realtor Guillermo Bermudez in the new venture. But even more important to Wright personally is that his wife and family are behind him and part of this adventure one hundred percent.
“This is just another way that he and his family are giving back,” Mayor Richard Kerr told the Daily Press. “The reason (Wright’s family is) here is because they believe in their husband, their dad, their mentor they look up to. That’s what Adelanto needs. We need more leadership from the top and that’s what Jermaine provides to Adelanto.”
The Fat Boyz Grill menu includes many typical burger joint options but also a few specials. The Rich (Kerr) is a French roll piled high with roast beef, ham, and turkey, both Swiss and American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo.
The Jermaine Sr. is also made with a French roll and topped with sliced steak, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, bell peppers, lettuce and tomatoes. The Man Burger has two one-half pound patties with Carolina Reaper and Ghost pepper mixed into the meat.
Fat Boys Grill also offers some lower fat alternatives including a fresh fruit platter and a vegetarian burger. Several salad options are also available.
Fat Boyz Grill is located in the old Astro Burger building at 11619 Rancho Road, Adelanto. It is open for breakfast and lunch. The hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
