I disagree about your conclusions regarding the inevitability of the extreme densification of San Francisco as determined by the needs of the tech industry. Rationally, the towns of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties will become denser and more attractive to urbanists.

The towns of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are not suburbs, although there is suburban sprawl between them. The towns are quite livable. They could easily become attractive for those wanting to reside in an urban environment — if they built more housing density.
