I am unique- just like everyone else

This past weekend I got to meet a great group of people. Cards Against Humanity over a few adult beverages and a concert in Fiesta Gardens. What a great way to get to know people. Cards Against Humanity is so much about reading people, knowing their personality and being able to choose an answer that best suits their interpretation of the question asked. I’m happy to say that even though I was the new girl in the group, I accrued the most cards! Woot! I was also told that I had a sexy voice and that only I was allowed to read cards for the rest of the evening- too funny, but I’ll take the compliment.

The concert we went to was the Randy Rogers Band. Heard of them? I hadn’t. Turns our every teenager in a 30 mile radius had though. I felt pretty old that night, but still had a ton of fun two-stepping and dancing along to songs I didn’t know the words to.

Saturday, I joined in on a cold, misty morning of sand volleyball. This group of people was also interesting and not all very athletically inclined. Which was fine because I seemed like an all star. A sassy, competitive all star. As more people joined, the skill levels balanced out. There were some pretty great spikers, but on the whole, my coaching instincts came out as I tried teaching people to serve and set. It felt nice to be able to get back on the courts, but I do miss my sand vball teammates from Champaign- that was the dream team. When y’all come to visit me, we’ll have to take on the masses at the courts (which are just blocks from my apartment).

Overall, the weekend was fun and relaxing. Met some new friends, was able to be active, watched a LOT of Netflix (damn you, Fringe!), and was able to have a Skype coffee date with a friend on Sunday.

Today, as I left my apartment to walk to a cafe down the street, the sun felt so warm on my face. It was only 33 degrees, but that sun made me smile (and squint) and think “it’s going to be a good week.”
