August 24th, 2017 — Finalizing The App Design

Lecture started off by discussing the agenda for the day. The presentation originally planned for today, was pushed back to the following Tuesday so that groups would have more time to prepare and come up with more satisfactory drafts of their app prototypes.

It was decided that we split the teams in half. People that worked on each of the two app prototypes were split between the two halves so each half would have people familiar with both of our designs. The two halves we split our group into were then sent off to pair up with halves of other teams to present our refined app designs to get further feedback.

After we finished getting feedback from the teams we partnered up with, the halves of our group came back together to discuss the feedback and ideas that we received. The general consensus based on the feedback was that the app prototype based more heavily on Tony’s had more necessary features while the prototype based off of Emma’s design was better aesthetically designed.

Because of this, we decided to take Tony’s features and implement them using the more aesthetic friendly visuals from Emma’s design. We discussed various design softwares and eventually settled on Adobe XD as it came with features geared towards app design that met the needs of our group.

Our group proceeded to create a google doc where we listed out each of the individual app pages that we need in our final design. From there, we each selected a few pages of the app to individually design over the weekend after pitching and exchanging ideas for what content each page of the app should contain.
