Dear Sheikh Mohammed: It’s 888 days since my son was taken from me… Today is his birthday.

Could you please pass on this message as I am not able to.

On 29 October 2013, my son Louis Lachaux was snatched from the playground he was playing in Dubai. I subsequently found out that an Islamic court in Dubai had awarded custody to my ex husband, a Catholic, French national who decided to use and abuse the Sharia laws of Dubai to gain custody of our son.

Dear little Louis

Today is your sixth birthday and I’m so sorry that I cannot be with you to share all your birthday fun.

I think about you every day, so much so, that the pain is unbearable.

Whenever, you are old enough to read this message, I want you to read it and imagine me giving you a big hug and lots of kisses.

I am fighting hard to see you. Sadly, there are many bad people who want to stop me fighting for you. But just as you were brave all those years ago when mummy was trying to protect you, I am trying to be brave now and believe that in the end — justice will prevail.

I will never give up on you, but If I don’t succeed, I hope one day you will come and find me.

On your special day — I have made a little video of all those memories I have of you. I hold onto these reminders as tightly as I held onto you when mummy was with you in Dubai.

I hope you know that mummy will always carry you in her heart.

And even though, mummy is thousands of miles away, you can see all our memories on Instagram, Facebook, twitter and the special website dedicated to our campaign.

Happy Birthday

Your mummy: Afsana, ‘always and forever’.

Louis is a British citizen. Louis is not allowed to come to the UK and I cannot see him until he is 18. It has been 888 days since I last saw or spoke to my son. He remains in Dubai out of reach, out of sight and out of jurisdiction. I have missed his last three birthdays and will miss many more because of the unjust and unfair sharia court case. #bringlouishome
