This is silly.
What’s wrong when people are empowered to create their own souvenirs? And are given tools to shape such as they please. We all collect objects that will remind us of places and experiences. They’re simply external extensions of memory. We find pleasure in revisiting them, and in sharing them with others. This is just part of being human. Who are you to judge?
Photography is not sacred. It’s in the same class as t-shirts and painted seashells. Get over it.
In my own travels I enjoy taking pics of people taking pics, whether it’s at the Little Mermaid in the Copenhagen harbor or the Mona Lisa in the Louvre, or lesser locales. But I don’t see how this perspective allows me to somehow feel superior to the the people in the scenes that I snap. It’s just something interesting.
