Beyond ChatGPT: 14 Game-Changing AI Tools Everyone Should Try Right Now!
Artificial intelligence (AI) is experiencing a “hot topic” moment, as applications like ChatGPT demonstrate exactly how powerful, mature, impactful and capable it is becoming.
The rise of this new breed of “generative” AI technologies has demonstrated in recent months that it is no longer limited to university research or Silicon Valley tech titans. Far from being the newest “viral sensation”, AI has evolved into a technology that every company or individual can use to revolutionize the way they operate or conduct any number of daily tasks.
To gain a comprehensive understanding of AI’s capabilities today, it’s important to be familiar with some essential tools. In this article, I’ve compiled a list of the most significant ones to get you started right away.
First, what exactly is AI?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. It refers to the ability of machines to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation.
AI systems are designed to learn from data and adapt to new inputs, allowing them to improve their performance over time. There are different types of AI, such as rule-based systems, machine learning, and deep learning, each with its own approach and level of complexity. AI is used in a variety of applications, from virtual assistants and chatbots to self-driving cars and medical diagnosis. Now, the most recent generation of AI tools allows us to use it for nearly every task we can think of. So, let’s have a look at some of these “Killer Apps” that everyone should try right now!
ChatGPT
Let’s start with a quick overview of the viral craze that is ChatGPT. It is a conversational interface for OpenAI’s GPT Large Language Model (LLM), which was recently made accessible to the public as a free research preview. It will write any kind of text, including prose, poetry, and even computer code, in response to text commands like questions or instructions.
Here is an example from ChatGPT interface:
When you create your account for ChatGPT you get also access to the playground which provides you more option to fine tune the usage of the language model (like the number of tokens, or the algorithm to be used..).
Midjourney
Midjourney is a generative artificial intelligence service that generates images from natural language descriptions (or “prompts”). Using text prompts, it can help you very quickly generate computer graphics (pictures, photos, sketches, paintings, etc.).
Midjourney recently stopped their free plan. You can think of using other alternatives like Dall-E by Open AI or Stable Diffusion.
Here is an example of an image that I generated using Midjourney, and that I actually use for my course on Artificial Intelligence:
Stable Diffusion
This is another text-to-image generative AI app. Unlike Dall-E and Midjourney, its source code, as well as details on the training data and weighting used by its algorithms, are open to the public, and the application can be downloaded and installed on your own computer, rather than only being accessible through a proprietary cloud portal, as is the case with OpenAI’s projects. Moreover, Stable Diffusion does not require creating an account or Login to use the service.
Here is an example of an image generated by Stable Diffusion:
Lumen5
Lumen5 is an AI-powered video creation tool that allows anyone to effortlessly produce educational, marketing, or business video material using a simple drag-and-drop interface.
Soundraw
Soundraw is an automated music generator that lets you make royalty-free AI music by choosing the type of music you want to make, the instruments that will be used, the mood you want to create, and the length of the track. Then sit back and watch the AI create one-of-a-kind tracks.
Looka
This is a tool that makes it easy to build a brand for your business by using AI to make logos that are unique and show the style and message of your business. Even if you lack design expertise, this tool makes it simple to begin developing customized marketing materials.
Podcastle
An audio recording and editing platform with integrated AI technologies that allows you to generate clear, super-smooth recordings that sound professionally edited, automating tasks like clearing up rough sounds and creating transcripts.
Gen-1
Cloud-based text-to-video technology that generates new films from existing ones, using text prompts to apply desired edits and effects, or generates animations from storyboard mock-ups. This tool was also made by the people who made Stable Diffusion.
Lalal.ai
This tool uses Phoenix, a neural network technology, to automatically separate sounds from different sources. This involves extracting elements from audio or visual content such as vocals, music, or even specific instrumental tracks such as drumbeats or basslines.
Deep Nostalgia
Do you have old family photos of distant relatives or ancestors that you’d want to see come to life? With this cool tool, you can make the faces in family pictures move so that you can see them smile, blink, and laugh, as if you had recorded a video of them back in the day.
Murf
This is a text-to-speech engine that allows you to easily create natural-sounding synthetic vocal recordings in 15 languages using a library of over 100 voices and dialects. This output can simply be incorporated into automated marketing or video material, automating the process of creating narration and voiceovers.
Legal Robot
This tool is made to instantly translate complicated and confusing “legalese” into straightforward language that anyone can understand. Useful for both laypeople who want to guarantee they comprehend legal documents and legal professionals who want to ensure their contracts and paperwork are written in a language that anyone can understand.
Cleanup.Pictures
With this AI tool, you can fix photos by removing unwanted items, flaws, or even people. This is done through a process called “inpainting,” which helps you make the perfect photo.
Fireflies
This tool connects to popular video conferencing programs like Zoom, Teams, or Webex and automates the process of taking notes and making transcriptions. It also analyzes talks to provide insights into the dynamics and decision-making that occur throughout them.
Krisp
Another conference calling tool, this one uses real-time algorithms to remove background noises, echo, and other distracting components, ensuring that you always come across as clear and professional.
