“Submitting oneself to labor discipline,” says Graeber, “does not make one a better person. In most really important ways, it probably makes one worse.” Truer words were never spoken. Yet people are conditioned to “submit” to a form of masochism. People are actually programmed from an early age to feel pain in their adult life if they do not submit themselves to work. Truly egregious!

Someday, I hope we can collectively shirk off the last vestiges of Calvinism and Freud’s psychoanalysis which produces this toxic psychological phenomena. Until then, I thank for your efforts in elucidating this ridiculous form of mass sadomasochism.
