USO partners with Airport Sherpa to celebrate 4th of July at BWI
For the 4th of July celebration, the United Service Organizations (USO), Airport Sherpa, and the OHM Group teamed up to provide free meals to service members at Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport. The USO is a private non-profit organization that offers services to members of the U.S. military and their families.
The USO lounge at BWI is the second largest USO lounge in the world and the largest in the Northeast — being used by 80,000 people.
Military personnel and their families wait in the 5,000-square-foot USO lounge at BWI before departure and upon arrival, often for hours due to long layovers. While there is a volunteer-run lounge that has a snack bar and numerous services, it is located pre-security. This leaves few choices available as most food and retail stores are located inside the terminals and are inaccessible while in the USO lounge.
With Airport Sherpa stepping on the scene — the first mobile delivery app for inside the airport — the service members now have access to all the great store options located post-security at airport. Service members are now able to get their favorite meals delivered — everything from a delicious crab cake from Obrycki’s to some freshly baked Munchkins and a refreshing Coolata from Dunkin Donuts to beat the heat.
We thank the USO, BWI, and the OHM Group for the opportunity.
