Resetting your MacBook to Factory Settings

If you are about to sell your Mac Pro and want to wipe all the data, then this article will guide you through. Many people think that wiping all the data and restoring MacBook to its factory settings is difficult. But in reality it is a very simple process. Before resetting your Mac, make sure that you have created a back-up of your important files and folders on some external drive. You might need some kind of cables to connect some external drive to your laptop.You can follow the instructions and steps mentioned below in order to wipe your entire data from your MacBook and then restoring it back to it’s’ factory settings:

1. Before wiping and then restoring your MacBook to its factory setting, make sure that your laptop is connected to some internet network.

2. Firstly you have to restart your MacBook. To restart your laptop, open ‘Apple Menu, from the upper left corner of your menu bar. A drop down menu will appear. Scroll to ‘Restart’ and select it.

3. When you Mac’s screen turns grey during the booting process, press and hold the R+Command keys.

4. Now select your internet network to connect your device with an internet connection.

5. Now open the ‘Disk Utility’. You can type ‘Disk Utility’, in your Mac’s search bar to open the Disk Utility folder.

6. The ‘Disk Utility’ will now appear on your screen. Now in the writing fields at the centre of the Disk Utility window, select the hard drive and then single-click on the ‘Erase’ tab to erase your hard drive.

7. A new window will appear on your screen. In this new window choose ‘Mac OS Extended (Journaled)’, and then (in the next writing field) type a name for Hard Drive.

8. Before wiping your hard drive, your system will ask you to confirm the erasing process. Select ‘Erase’.

9. Once the wiping process completes, quit the Disk Utility.

10. Your system will load a new window for the installation of OS X. Choose to reinstall the OS X. now click on the ‘Continue’ button.

11. You can now follow the instructions on your screen to complete the OS X’s reinstallation process.
