Akiverse is Redefining Arcade Gaming with NFT Arcade Machines

You don’t need a dusty old box to have an Arcade Machine anymore. Akiverse is building virtual Arcade Machines that live on your phone.

Remember when you were a kid and you went to play arcade games with your friends? Jumping from machine to machine to try to get a new high score or just killing a few hours enjoying your favorite game. We’re recreating that experience in the Akiverse with NFT Arcade Machines; and the best part is you don’t need to put any coins in the machine to play!

What is an NFT Arcade Machine?

A lot of people think NFTs are just JPEG or GIF files that people own — apes or cryptopunks or another piece of artwork — but there’s a whole lot more that we can do with them.

NFTs are like the websites of Web 3.0. You can program them to be anything you can imagine. We’ve imagined NFTs to be Game Centers, Arcade Machines and Arcade Parts to recreate the arcade experience.

Each Arcade Machine is a unique ERC-721 token that contains a single arcade game just like it would in a real life Game Center.

In the Akiverse there are small, medium and large Game Centers. Arcade Machines are installed inside the Game Centers for players to play and Arcade Machines are built by combining Arcade Parts in a process that we call Crafting.

The Crafting System: Build Your Own Arcade Machine

To craft a new Arcade Machine you need 3 things:

1. Arcade Parts
2. AKV tokens
3. AKIR tokens

Each Arcade Machine is crafted by combining these 4 different types of Arcade Parts:

1. Cartridge
2. Circuit Board
3. Controller
4. Cabinet

When crafting a specific arcade game you will need to follow the Arcade Machine Recipe that will let you know what Arcade Parts are needed to craft the game. Arcade Machine Recipes will be posted on Akiverse’s Twitter, Medium, Telegram and other channels.

There is a lot more to the Crafting System, including the ability to Salvage and Recycle Arcade Parts from used Arcade Machines; and we will be covering it in more depth in a future article.

Once you’ve Crafted your Arcade Machine you are good to go. Now it’s time to play!

How to Play an Arcade Machine

The bad news is that you’ll have to wait until our official Akiverse Launch to play our arcade games, unless you buy a Game Center and/or get AKV tokens to get early access to Akiverse. The good news is that our developers are working hard building the platform and we have many exciting games in the pipeline!

Once Akiverse has launched and is open for visitors anyone can play an arcade game by going to a Game Center that has an Arcade Machine installed with the game that you want to play.

Each Arcade Machine can only be played by one player at a time so that players are distributed across Game Centers allowing owners of Arcade Machines and Game Centers to earn efficiently.

You don’t need to buy an Arcade Machine to play the games and have the chance to win tokens but there are extra benefits for the owner of the Arcade Machine.

How do I Get an Arcade Machine?

There are 3 ways that you can get an Arcade Machine:

1. Craft a new Arcade Machine using the Craft System
2. Buy one from an Arcade Machine Owner on the Marketplace
3. Buy a Game Center and be lucky enough to be selected for the random Arcade Machine Airdrop

Akiverse will be airdropping 300 Arcade Machines to Game Center owners at random leading up to our official launch.

4 Reasons to Get an Arcade Machine

Now that you know what Akiverse Arcade Machines are here are 4 reasons to get one:

1. Play your favorite game and win AKIR tokens
   As the owner of an Arcade Machine you can play the game installed on the Arcade Machine exclusively to master it and have more chances to win AKIR tokens.
2. Earn AKIR tokens from other players
   If you don’t want to just play the game yourself you can install your Arcade Machine in a Game Center and earn a percentage of the AKIR tokens won by other players. Owners of Arcade Machines decide the split of AKIR winnings between the owner and the player. An Arcade Machine might be set up so that the owner gets 30% and the player gets 70% of the winnings.
3. To fill up the available space in your Game Center
   Game Center owners can buy or craft their own Arcade Machines to install them in their Game Centers to fill up available space. Game Center owners can also rent out space to other Arcade Machine owners to earn AKIR for use of the space.
4. To attract more players to your Game Center
   Game Center owners might decide that they would like to swap some of their existing Arcade Machines for new release or popular titles to attract more players to their Game Center. To do this they would get new Arcade Machines by crafting a machine or buying one from the marketplace.
