I agree with most of your statements, particularly education, but in my opinion the relevance of researching the state of these things, given the fact that our society is not currently structured to support such comprehensive networks, is limited to use as a unit of measure for progress. In other words, should society care about the individual or should it not; these are meaningless questions in a society that is not structured to do so. It seems to me the perspective of those trying to help equalize society is too often focused on the wrong problems to try and inspire change, when social structure itself is the problem, and it’s not something to be fixed by trying to convince others its the right thing to do. I am quite fascinated by the work of Jacque Fresco precisely because his approach is a structural change in how we organize society. He preached for decades to a deaf audience to try and inspire widespread change, until now he’s taken action to try an show what’s possible, though most still have never heard of him. I find him a bit idealistic, but at least he’s got a fresh approach to the problem.
