Slowly is a platform that enables you to send letters from the ease of your smartphone/PC.
It brought back the pen-palling game and customized it to the current times. And in a restless, always-moving world, it feels nice to take things Slowly for a change.

Let’s discuss some features of this app:

Privacy

One of the best features of this app is its security.

• You cannot put your personal profile pic rather, this app lets you create an avatar with different specifications. So, nobody can judge or make assumptions about your physical appearance.
• You can share pictures or audio with your pen-pal only if they accept your picture/audio sharing request. Say ‘NO’ to unsolicited genitals pics.

Anticipation

The excitement of waiting for your pen-pal’s letter and desperately waiting on the platform until the letter is only a few minutes away is indescribable.

This app is geo-location based, so letters within 100km of your area would arrive in 35 minutes, and those from far away; let’s say 8000kms+ will arrive in 36hrs.
Your letter will take the same time to reach too.

As the letters take so long to reach, the letters are longer and more elaborate than a quick message.

Quality

There are some really nice and knowledgeable people on this platform, people from diverse ethnicity with all kinds of experiences share their treasure with others.

The best part is, in your bio, you could choose specific topics that you’re interested in. So, the person sending you a letter will already know what kind of conversation will you be interested in. Makes it easier to talk to a complete stranger.

And except for every kind of story, I’ve met a person with a great interest in the world’s history to a 16y.o from Luxembourg who cured her depression through psychedelics.

Disadvantage

Just like any coin, this platform has another side too.

There is a possibility that the person with whom you spend your previous months/years talking might ghost you one day.

But, there’s a fix too, share Instagram IDs or any other social media handles after a while, so if they go blank on this platform, you could know what happened.

Be sure to ask for them after a considerable exchange of letters so that you don’t appear to be a creep.

• Create an elaborate bio. Don’t be shy, let people know what your likes, dislikes are. What you are currently pursuing. What do you like to talk about?
• If you will not be regular on the platform, let people know that in advance. Otherwise, they might think that they wouldn’t a reply from you.
• Be polite. Be Kind. Don’t Judge. Leave toxic people.
