As a US resident I didn’t have to go through VFS — it was an online application (Stage 2) to be mailed-in, with a biometrics appointment which was to be attended. I believe the processing time was 2–3 weeks after the mailed-in packet was received. The exact times will depend on where you live and your personal circumstances. You can contact the Home Office for a small fee if it’s taking longer than 3 weeks. There is no other way of tracking that I’m aware of. But in all honesty, I would be patient. ;)
