My Green Mat Stories.

It feels odd to start blogging this late. By late, I mean after blogging has run it’s course of being cool and dying a slow unnoticed death. With the advent of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and all the other public forums out there (I have been out of the “what’s-in-vogue” radar post pregnancy) I don’t know if anyone reads more than a few 100 characters anymore. Besides I’m not even certain I’ll be interesting enough to be read! :D

Anyways, here I am now, blogging, not because I’ve suddenly come out of hiding and want to be cool (I feel more like the odd new kid on the block) but because I want to. I might have a few bytes worth of interesting write-ups to share.

Why “Green Mat Stories”?

Somewhere in between I started using an Indian handcrafted mat—made of grass and dyed green with natural dyes—to showcase the books I was writing about on Instagram. All the other Ig accounts seemed to have pictures, of high digital resolution, cameras strategically placed, color coordinated props and a beautiful background that would tie it all together. In my vain attempt to present my books in a slightly fancier way, I purchased (yes, I went out and specifically bought) this green mat (pai in Tamil) and the books I wrote of, sat on the mat from then on.

Turns out the mat didn’t do much to the overall picture quality but this blog is just what the green mat stands for. My medium (wow, that I chose medium.com is purely coincidental) to showcase my stories.
