The world of social networks in 28 ideas — Part 1

In the new ecosystem of the internet, social networks have become extremely powerful tools of the modern world. There are soaring numbers of subscribers from thousands to millions to billions. The numbers keep reaching new records and every month there is a record number of registrations and usage records are exceeded every month.

In the past, communication between people was often distributed by geographical area, country or language. With the advent of social networks, walls have fallen one after the other.Information flows instantly to every corner of the world, our content is being read and shared by tens of thousands of humans.

The planet is reaching new stages of maturity, are we on the dawn of a new digital revolution where we all could live universally?

At the beginning of the Internet, in 1972, Ray Tomlinson invented e-mail, the first system for individuals to network through computers. Virtual communication was born. Our world was joining a new era of sociability where the human being could dematerialize communication, or even dematerialize themselves some day. From the beginning, computer networks had to communicate between humans that were distant from one another and made the distances invisible. In the early 1990s, the web was born, communication was about to become global and enter a revolution. Today, every country has millions of Internet users and more than 2 billion worldwide. All borders have fallen or almost fallen. Everyone can network.

Bloomberg

Is a symbol of the financial world and networks. From its creation, it invented a world-class business messaging system that enabled tens of thousands of financiers to connect.

Two castes were created: those who had Bloomberg terminals, had a profile and could communicate with each other, and those who were not on the system. Thanks to this innovation, Bloomberg was building the key to its success.

New technologies, avant-gardists ones, are currently being created, based on the exploitation by algorithms of the data circulating in the messaging service. The world market and its users are scrutinized, they enrich a mega base. The network expands by integrating external data such as Twitter in April 2013. It accelerates to the rhythm of financial transactions.

Content curation

It refers to new social media sharing information that’s already on the web. Thanks to content curation, the user can easily find relevant news because another user has previously clicked it and information has been gathered on relevant webs or flows on a particular topic.

Curation questions copyright. The ease of creating a website, and the attendance that goes with it, rests on the intellectual property of others. Do you think it’s moral, in this virtual world we are building, to have the power to share everything without any constraint?

Dropbox

Like a Tuareg that goes for a walk in the desert, the internet user just needs the essentials when travelling. He’s no longer hoarded with immaterial files on a flash drive or a hard drive. The world of the 21st century is nomadic, the Internet adapts itself by offering innovations on the “Cloud”.

With these types of tools, we no longer have to think about the files versions, or the latest modifications we’ve made. Robots manage everything for us, like loyal butlers available 24 hours a day. We are joining a universe of high availability, the world turns fast, we must constantly anticipate.

elearning

…or dematerialized learning, is a technique of training on the Internet that avoids the physical presence of a teacher. After having vilified the different education systems for generations, humans have found their universal and ideal method. For the moment, this system is used only “in case a teacher is not necessary”. To train the masses, elearning is presented as the most effective method. Will it create a uniform and neutral world where the virtual will replace all human relationships?

Facebook

…is the network of more than one billion active members. If a name has to stand out of the crowd of that new universality of social networks, Facebook will beat all others. Professionals denigrate it and young people spend their time on it. It is a symbol of generational differences, it can provoke and overrun when thousands of young people meet to celebrate a birthday announced on a user account. In some parts of the world, the totalitarian authorities fear it and block it because it can blow a wind of freedom.

We are used to going into detail about our private life in an uncontrolled way, such as a child who learns to walk; The Internet user may fall. Will humans be able to manage their use and learn the lessons of their mistakes?

Google+ By surfing on the Internet, Google is the most widely used page to first search. This fantastic search engine can solve any mystery instantly.

The Silicon Valley firm, which has already taught humanity how to fly over the Earth, to visit the world without moving, to visualize all the shops on a street, to use applications on a Smartphone, could not remain absent from modern social networks. Therefore, it launched Google+ in 2011 .

Google connects the user to all their applications, so that they feel at the center of a new universe made up of billions of human atoms. Will they succeed in cultivating that difference that makes his value?

Hootsuite

Throughout the world billions of human beings move … they are relentless. They live at 100%, optimize their time, seek to increase their actions. Hootsuite minimizes time spent on social networks by gathering them. Posts sent simultaneously are distributed via a single platform.

Humans can save their energy … their time and avoid drifting into the multitude of labyrinths available. Dependence on multiple platforms is reduced for the sophisticated user. The counterpart is the risk of a standardization of posts, our world is standardized from east to west, from north to south. Readers no longer accept the difference.

Instant information

…updated information, social networks are like a permanent race to the last event propagated on the internet An implacable cavalcade has been installed. You have to be the first to inform the rest of the world in order to get broadcast. The user must sort out or find reliable relays that will make their job happen. Quality is paid and essential. There are streams that add news and filter to optimize your reading.

By surfing on the internet, the user increases their knowledge, discovers news from every corner of the globe, and have the impression that they are rubbing shoulders with the power.

Newspapers

In the digital age, our traditional newspapers have to reinvent themselves if they don’t want to disappear. The formats are changing, their past economic model is collapsing. To increase the size of the obstacle, a new global competition is setting up. It is no longer necessary to establish your company in a specific geographic area to have readers, journalists are competing with millions of bloggers.

The selection will be repeated, the memories of the old publications will guide readership that will become demanding again. Their quality, historically recognized, will serve for the conquest of this universe which tried to replace them and forget them. The world can not abandon its memory and must retain its landmarks.

The “Kilimanjator”

… is an astonishing term that the dictionary of the future defined as a “historian specialized in objects, uses, semantic habits victims of technological or societal evolutions” In the face of the movements experienced by our world, witnesses of the past and habits are paramount. Social networks do not stop growing and some giants appear and others disappear. They can drop old reading media like paper.

This universe which is in motion, reflects our society, and needs a deep and regular analysis of the behaviors. Can humanity live without remembering? Transmission between generations has always been the support of the memory of man.

Linkedin

Connects professionals all over the world. To attract us, it has created a dematerialized CV feature and proposed a new way of communication. The boundaries of the company are reinventing themselves. Communication is changing, groups are created and you need to be in the network to exist.

Nowadays, the PC has become the indispensable tool of our everyday production, messaging occupies an increasingly important part of our time, integrated and interprofessional systems are developing to connect employees of the Universal Enterprise. Linkedin is growing, how far will it go?

The world

Professional world and personal world are crossing each other on networks. Like Yin and Yang, they are complementary and symbolize the quality of the image in social networks. They represent all the faces of an internet user, an image relayed on one can not be forgotten in the other.

The world is a whole in this universe, no one can network without linking with others. In the discussions, relations of oppositions are created, generate interdependence or even mutation. The concept of Yin and Yang is valid at any time so do you think one color will prevail over the other?

Innovation

It is omnipresent and indispensable. Change has become the way the virtual world works. New networks are constantly created and concepts are created. Humanity has began a cycle of perpetual motion of innovations. The freshness of an idea has become a source of creation and distinction.

Once it appears, the insatiable internet user will throw one away and look for another innovation. It always seeks to advance and has an infinite need to overcome. Is it still possible to live without innovation, is a hunger strike possible to slow down the system?
