What happened to our obligation to seek disarmament under the NPT? Without a good-faith effort standing up to the military-industrial complex, we have no moral legs to stand on in countering proliferation or other nations’ modernization efforts. Driving a new arms race by spending tens of billions of dollars on new systems or significant upgrades in the upcoming decades is a moral betrayal of humanity.
