Getaway Garden: 5 Elements You Should Have in Your Paradise

Everyone dreams of having the perfect garden where you can forget all about your problems and troubles. No matter where you are, what your climate is like or how big your garden is, you can have your perfect backyard, too — all it needs is a bit of attention.

Of course — it all depends on what you find calming and stress-relieving, but there are some things that you simply can’t go wrong with. You should check out my suggestions and start your brainstorming from there. Every project requires some research first — it helps us develop better ideas with a lot more detail, so you shouldn’t skip that step.

Water Feature

As far as I’m concerned, this is an absolute must. The sound of moving water is incredibly calming, so if you’d like to have a peaceful getaway, you should definitely include this item. There are so many different shapes and sizes of water features available, so you can go with a fountain, a miniature waterfall or a water featured inspired by oriental motives.

Some of them are quite simple to install and get, while others require a bit of time and devotion, so make sure you make the right choice based on the resources at your disposal.

Hammock

It’s quite important that you’re comfortable in your little getaway. So, whether you’d like to take a nap, listen to some music, read a book or simply unwind while enjoying your hobby, first and foremost you need to be completely undisturbed and content — which is why you need a hammock.

Most people tend to believe that you need a special set of conditions for effectively installing it, which is a mistake — there are many different designs and you’ll be able to fit it practically anywhere. Naturally, you should consult someone experienced in exterior design before your order one.

Pottery

You can’t really call your garden or a backyard a proper getaway if there aren’t any plants there, now can you? Flowers and trees — plants in general — have a positive and calming effect on our minds, so you should try to surround yourself with them as much as possible.

However, taking care of a large number of plants might be a bit time-consuming, so you’ll want to explore your options. Instead of actually planting them in your backyard, you should consider getting pottery. This is a much easier way to maintain your plants, protect them from harsh weather and enjoy them. Besides, designer pots are truly beautiful and will contribute to the overall aesthetics of your backyard.

Bonsai Trees

If you don’t really know how or you don’t have enough time to take care of young plants, you should go with an option that requires less of your attention. Fully developed bonsai trees are a gorgeous thing to have in your backyard or in your home, and when they achieve their full size they aren’t really that demanding.

Besides, taking care of bonsai trees is considered to be an art form, so the person you get it from will probably suggest that you bring your tree to them about once per year, so that they can do their magic.

Cover Up

We all have a different idea about what we like to do in our free time, but we probably have similar conditions in which that needs to happen, and trying to get away from the Sun isn’t one of them. If you don’t really want to get the full furniture set, including a parasol, you can make your own cover up.

You’ll need a piece of cloth that’s water resistant, but you should also make sure to get it in an attractive color or print, so that it doesn’t bother you later on. Then you should simply install it above your favorite spot by tying it to a tree, for example, and you can say goodbye to squinting.

Getting either one of these items can’t possibly turn out to be a mistake, and I’m sure you will enjoy it. This project may take a while, but you’ll find that it’s worth it once you’re finally done and sitting in your little paradise.
