Today I’m counting down my top five tech buys of 2022. These are five products from the live streaming or broadcast world that I have loved using this year and think you will enjoy just as much too. I’ve tried to feature a range of products, so it’s not just a list of expensive cameras or overpriced kit. Everything on here has either upped the quality of my work or drastically improved my workflows. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional in the streaming world, these five tech buys are sure to give you the edge. So join me as I count down my top five tech buys of the year!

5) Fiber Optic HDMI Cables
Fiber Optic HDMI cables are an ideal solution for long-distance HDMI signal transmission. Where a standard HDMI cable usually shouldn’t be much longer than say 7 meters / 20 feet. A Fiber HDMI cable will have no issue sending a signal at lengths of up to 100m / 300 feet. This allows you to place your HDMI based cameras much further away from your ATEM Mini / vision switcher. The ATZEBE Fiber Optic HDMI Cable has been the best option i’ve found (after much testing):
It is a bi-directional cable that supports full-tally light, cameras control, and color correction, perfect for use with Blackmagic Pocket or Studio cameras and ATEM Mini’s. It is also 4K@60Hz and HDR compatible and has been used in many of my studio builds and location shoots without any issues. It is important to remember that these cables are more fragile than traditional HDMI cables and must be connected correctly to the source and destination, as labelled on the from of the HDMI connector.

4) Niimbot D11 Label Maker
Are you tired of trying to keep track of the cables running around your studio or podcast space? Are you looking for an easy and affordable way to make sure your cables are clearly labeled? If so, then the NIIMBOT D11 Label Maker is definitely worth considering! The NIIMBOT D11 Label Maker is a pocket-sized label maker that connects to your phone via Bluetooth. With their app, you can create and print custom labels with ease. What makes this label maker even better is that they have specific labels designed for cables. This makes it easy to clearly label the different types of cables in your setup. The D11 label maker itself is reasonably priced at only $36, and the labels come in rolls of 65 for $11. Plus, they come in a variety of colors, which is great for being able to easily group different cable types.

With the Speed Editor, you can move quickly and precisely through your timeline and have all the most used editing tools at your finger tips. It’s even great for multi-cam edits, as you can switch between angles with the dedicated camera button.
