Compass.to summer 2016
It’s our 4th summer with Compass.to in New York and we’ve been collecting the soundtracks of our venture, parties and experiences wherever we went.
Here’s to the tracks fueling our creative workflow this summer, shortening our commutes to the office or meetings and partying while- and after works.
The debut of Soundcloud superstar Kaytranada features many collaborators and is one of the best records this year. Diverse, danceable and a surprisingly unpredictable mix of styles and rhythms. In the selected track he collaborates beautifully with Little Dragon.
Metronomy’s 2011’s ‘The English Riviera’ is still one of our top favorite summer songs and the track here is what the title says: Old Skool; with a portion of mature distinguished British happiness.
When Weezer played at Rough Trade in our Brooklyn hood it felt like the start of the summer and their release is since then part of our soundtracks this year.
Disclosure features Al Green with mellow house vibes for a hot summer afternoon.
Matisyahu is another all time favorite for good vibes and the latest release is being touted as a tribute to all of the haters and for me simply a nice and smooth hot summer night track.
Action Bronson, rapper and former chef from Flushing, Queens surprised already last spring (Compass.to spring 2015) and contributes the classic ‘Standing in the rain’ with a recongnizable Dan Auerbach (Black Keys) footprint.
Closing with a real love song and Father John Misty we’re heading into Labor Day, but with many sunny late summer days in mind..
