When we started Atomic 5 years ago it took us on average 2 years for our companies to get to their first $1M in annual recurring revenue. In this past year, it’s taken the most recent several companies we’ve co-founded just 1–4 months to reach that important milestone.
Prehype and the UK’s Founders Factory operate in this space. This is also a play space for the management consultancies such as BCG Digital Ventures who offer a similar service — acquiring or developing a startup and getting paid 10x per solution by enterprise clients. Though having what is still in essence a management consultancy, agile as a corpse, build a startup feels like insanity.
There are a few startups already at work here. Renew (founded by an ex-Oscar co-founder) is building a virtual benefits platform for retirees, starting with a content engine + Medicare marketplace. Irene (disclaimer: Irene is a Notation portfolio company) buys homes from seniors in order for them to have money in the bank to keep living their life without the hindrance of expenses like mortgages or property taxes.
