For the first 5 weeks of uni we were given a brief to complete every week. The images at the bottom of the page are just some of the work that I produced. Each week the briefs challenged my Graphic Design skills in different ways. For instance the “Italian Job” poster had to be hand rendered and you were only allowed to use typography. The Book Cover design concentrated on the design skills and also research on the topic of “Readability And Legibility”. These briefs were very simple and quick, but very effective in the way to prepare us for the bigger projects to follow on during the course of the year. Also I believe that the tutors wanted to understand really briefly about the skills of every student. These briefs also helped us students to understand our peers more and to get to know one another. I believe these briefs helped me understand the expectation of deadlines and quality of work. Every class review that we had after each brief we got a chance to talk about our individual work and the concept behind our design, it allowed us to share ideas with one another. In all sense these were 5 vital weeks for myself as it was my first taste of uni life.
