“The best thing about getting older is the independence I have. I’m 93 you see and I live alone. I like to have a flutter — it gives me something to keep me interested in. Every day I have a little flutter — I won £14 yesterday — so I’m going to collect my winnings! It get’s me out everyday, go for a walk and then I pop to Tesco’s for some shopping. I still have my independence and that means everything to me. Neighbours pop in and help me with a shop, and family members help with the washing, but most of my family live far away.”
