No One Sings Like You Anymore
There are some musicians that really make you feel. Regardless of how your day’s going or how much time passes, there is a song, album, or voice that always hits that sweet spot.
For me, one of those voices was Chris Cornell’s. I’m in no way claiming to be a die-hard fan, but I did obsess over his covers and couldn’t get enough of his voice. Like A Stone will always be one of my favorite songs to sing when my brother and I have an impromptu jam session; it’s just one of those songs.
There was something somber yet moving about his songs; whatever he sang, I always felt the power of those pipes. If you have time to spare, I recommend sitting through a few songs and just listen. You won’t be disappointed.
Anytime someone like this passes away, you can’t help but wonder what they were going through in their last moments. You realize that there’s a part of that person that only a handful of people saw, a side you will never experience, and that all you have left are those feeling they gave you. In a way it’s comforting that at least the music will last forever, but knowing there could have been more to come and that you’ll never hear that voice in a new way again is heartbreaking.
So, to end on a good note, I leave you with a short list of my favorites in the hopes that you’ll feel what I do.
