Thanks to the loudest dog snoring you’ve ever heard, I got very little sleep last night. I actually got up an hour before my alarm and went and slept on the couch to try to get a few minutes in before I had to go to work. On my way into the office I got my usual black coffee breakfast at my coffee spot. Their largest size is only 12 oz. I really wish they would work on that. Actually, it’s probably a good thing that they don’t have larger, otherwise I’d be a jittery mess every day. The coffee spot is just far enough that by mid-morning I’m too busy and/or lazy to leave my office to go get more, so the one cup on the way in is my max. Maybe when the weather gets warmer I’ll make the trek more often. It’s a cool coffee spot — $40/month and you get as much coffee and/or tea as you want. Espresso drinks and other fancy things are discounted, so I think the max something would cost is $3? Cold brew, if I recall, is $1.
Lunch was the salad I packed last night. There’s an approximate weight that my salad has to be, or else I’ll be starving again around 4 and my blood sugar levels will drive me to the bodega downstairs to buy something stupid and definitely bad for the wedding diet. The weight is somewhere between a small hardcover textbook and my laptop. At the bodega salad bar it would cost approximately $14, so definitely better to bring my own.
So my salad worked and I was good to go until I came home. I had a small handful of almonds as my pre-spin snack. After spin I had to go to the grocery store because making big salads for two people requires an entire large bag of greens (this time, a kale, spinach, and something else green mix). I made our salads for tomorrow and then “gorged” on some carrots and celery with hummus, a few slices of turkey, and this weight watchers spicy mozzarella string cheese thing that was surprisingly satisfying.
I’m forgetting to mention the water that I drank throughout the day — as soon as I figure out how many of those smallish office styrofoam cups make a liter I’ll have an approximation of how much water I’m consuming. Until then, just take my word for it that I drink a lot of water throughout the day (my office is unbearably warm and my office is right next to the water cooler). I peed a lot, if that counts for anything.
Before bed I’ll probably have a cup of chai with half and half because I like to believe that it’s “calming” and makes me more adult than someone who still eats string cheese.
