Well I actually did a lot of research. I really spent quite a lot of time on this. Like I said, I studied Medical Examiners reports from the largest cities for the last ten years, and I also studied the forensic reports the three autopsies on Mike Brown and the Grand Jury Procedings are publicly available for anyone to read .. The evidence was overwhelming. It was so good that the witnesses were asked why they lied. That’s how blatant it was .
This is a really sensitive subject.
I don’t want to upset anyone , and it’s upsetting to me that my opinion on the subjects here upset people.
Although have had plenty of black people totally agree with me too. On all points.
I think sometimes when I read the black perspective, not all the time , sometimes I read something and it’s horrible and it’s racist and abusive and evil. But a lot of times I read stuff that black people write about racism and I think, don’t they know this happens to all of us? Like fix it tickets for example. One time I was arguing with a black guy who said , “ Oh yeah? Bet you don’t get pulled over for fix it tickets all the time.”
That’s just one example. But for every experience ( almost) that I read about being racist yes I did think. That happens to me or white people I know. ALl the time. Black people don’t think this stuff happens to white people, but it all does. It happens to all of us. For different reasons. I’m not saying that racism doesn’t exist. It does. But true racism , when a person feels they’re superior to another race. Because of race, is actually pretty rare. In anyone born after 1970 or so. I think most of us ( with the exception of the south, or some segregated cites on the East Coast ) grew up in such a multi cultural neighborhood, with so much exposure to black people , to all races, that it’s just really hard to find. Who didn’t go to school with black people , hang out with them, who didn’t have black teachers , coaches, friends , I mean, it’s just become part of us. We grew up with shows like Sesame Street and Electric Company or any of the kid shows now- they taught us love. I think most of our parents wanted so badly to change that ugly aspect of society they witnesses and lived through, most of us were raised without any kind of racism. Or prejudice. I don’t know anyone that was. Do you?
Sure prejudice exists and it’s a lot more prevalent I think. But I also think black people to a certain degree project prejudice on to us. They are convinced we are racists and hate them, so whatever we do that’s what they see.
To a certain degree , I wish black people really probed themselves and looked deep inside to see if they are actually the ones with preconceived judgements about us, and how we feel about them.
I mean, if I can’t ask a black person what nationality they are without that being a microagression, I’m pretty limited in my ability to develop a relationship with that person, and I think that is what the author was getting at, underneath the words.
Can we please stop having everything be about race so it can stop being about race.
How awesome would it be if white people didn’t think that anything they said would be perceived as racists? How awesome would it be if black people could think that the world actually isn’t racist?
My best friend ( one of them) is black. Guess what my pet name is for her? Sexy Mulatto. Yep.
She knows I’m not racist. That It is just not even a part of anything between us. She knows she is black. She is ok with who she is and doesn’t think that white people hate her. Or are racist against her. So she doesn’t get bent out of shape. She is proud of it, and what it is to be black. It’s a compliment to her. I’ve asked her before — have you ever be subject to racism? She told me no. Not really. She said that sure, she has been called some names. And teased as a kid, but has never had anything happen to her that doesn’t happen to everhone else she knows and that she never thought that it was about race. It was just the human experience. Most black people I know who don’t “talk black” “act black” or ghetto fabulous whatever you want to call it/ ( I fucking hate it that ghetto is considered black culture. I think a bigger enemy of black people is actually black culture, is black people themselves nowadays. This “black culture” thing. It’s insane that they get held up to a standard of ignorance and poor taste, look at the recent controversy about Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone. ) I hate it that most black girls think they need a weave , or to have white hair. Light skin. To be considered beautiful by black people. I hate the gangster culture in black neighborhoods and if a black kid doesn’t talk and act black or ignorant and criminal he is laughed at . They are forcing themselves into this fucking hole in the ground. They make fun of us or each other because white people want black people to act like them, or they are “ too black for white folks to be comfortable with “
No. You lost your identity actually. When you stopped allowing yourself to be who you are.
I’m sorry, but none of us are born talking like dat and dis. And fuck y’all.
We are all just human beings. It would be nice if we could be.
