Hi Jada! This sounds like such an interesting career field.

As unlikely as it seems, I take better care of myself when I’m on the road for events than when I am home.
At hotels I make sure to get up early no matter how late I’ve been up the night before and go through a routine of getting coffee and breakfast, watching the weather channel (the news is too stressful), and avoiding event related things. That way anything in my inbox I can approach with a calm mind as opposed to sleeping in, being inundated with issues and that setting the pace for my day.
I also have to trick myself sometimes. I carry around a water bottle and not just to stay hydrated. If I get busy, I will forget to go to the bathroom. Sometimes I need biology to force me to take a break. Since I usually have to put down a bag, put away my phone, remove several walkie-talkies or comms, it’s a chance to be free of all the chatter in my ear and wires.
And finally, something I’ve done since I was an intern at Disney was to take walks. An unscheduled lap around the block, or convention space, or wherever works wonders. It gives you a chance to remove myself from everything, but still be available. Answers come more quickly that way when I’m not distracted by what’s going on in the space. I can find the answers hiding in plain sight when I’m doing the same.
