Our top picks of things to do in Reading this week which includes a midweek launch party, live music, theatre and food festivals happening over the Bank Holiday weekend.

1. Hope and Bear Launch Party

Thursday 3rd May from 5.30pm to 9.30pm at the new Hope and Bear, 153 London Road. Get your launch party tickets here

Another new revamped watering hole is opening up in town this week, and you can be one of the first punters to get your paws on the Hope & Bear’s fantastic food and drink at their exclusive launch party.

Have a go at creating your own G&T with Tarquin’s Gin pop-up, savour a fresh oyster, courtesy of Blue Point Toasted Lager, have an aperol spritz in the garden, try some Kraken spiced rum or join in as we ‘Raise Hells’ with Camden Town Brewery, and more.

2. Spice Oven Indian Street Food Festival

Every Saturday in May from midday to 4pm, at the Spice 2–4 Church Street in Caversham.

Starting this Saturday, and then every Saturday in May thereafter, the Spice Oven in Caversham will be serving up a whole host of Indian street food treats as part of their Street Food festival celebrating rich culinary culture.

3. Love Food Live presents the Mapledurham Food Festival

Saturday 5th to Monday 7th May, at Mapledurham House near Reading from 10am — 5pm. Tickets are available here

The Mapledurham Food Festival will once again be the platform for a great day out for the whole family this coming Bank Holiday weekend.

There will be around 150 food exhibitors where you can meet local food producers, bake with Paul Jagger the winner of the Christmas British Bake Off, take part chocolate tasting, food masterclasses, and much more. Plus you can also travel to the event by boat from Caversham.

4. Mix Jam Night hosted by Marisa Rodriguez

Thursday 3rd May from 4pm at Caffeine & Cocktails, Unit 5, The Walk near the Oracle. Free entry

Singer/songwriter Marisa Rodriguez and her extremely talented funk & soul house band will be hosting a jam night exclusively at Caffeine & Cocktails on Thursday evening, so come on down and enjoy some live music in gorgeous surroundings.

There will also be some great drink offers, and it’s the venue’s resident night ‘Join the Gin’ will still be running! Create your own perfect G+T or try one of our recommended serves, the choice is yours!

Please note that this drink offer runs from 4pm Thursday until late, with their specialised Gin Menu running all evening.

5. Vamos Theatre presents ‘A Brave Face’

Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th May at South Street. Tickets are available here
