Free VR Planetarium Simulator for content producers

We welcome all our readers and would like to share some good news.

We had a chance to talk with many content producers recently during the IMERSA 2018 summit and realized that many of them use a real planetarium dome for testing shows there. And in most cases, it takes a lot of time for encoding and assembling video for dome projection system.

Last year we developed a VR Planetarium simulator for internal use. It works great for fulldome shows testing before the final release to our VR Planetarium franchise.

But it will be also perfect for any content producer who has to test often how fulldome show looks like in real dome. We created 2 different locations with 0 and 45 degrees dome orientations.

Hardware that you will need

The VR Planetarium software is free for all content producers and developers and can be used for personal use or while developing.

All what you need is Smartphone Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge/S7/S7 edge/S8/S8+/S9/S9+ and any Samsung Gear VR glasses.

How to use

We tried to make it easy to use. So all you need to do is to encode your fulldome show (h.264 or h.265, Resolution 2K, Bitrate up to 20Mbps) and to upload to the smartphone. And then you can just load VR Planetarium simulator and watch it on the giant 20 meters dome screen.
