We started building Aion Pay after a community member shared the idea with us. The original plan was to make it easy for anyone to send AION. Simply visit our website and choose from a number of options (keystore, private key, ledger) and send some of your tokens. As the project progressed, we realized we could offer a lot more and that’s when the idea of creating a “toolbox” that developers could use when building on top of blockchain networks. Kokun is the toolbox and Aion Pay is the first tool.

From a user perspective, Aion Pay looks like a simple way to send AION from one wallet to another. But for developers, this offers an alternative to signing transactions with fewer limitations. Currently, AIWA is the most popular method used within the Aion network to sign blockchain transactions, and for good reason. AIWA is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to interact with decentralized applications. AIWA also offers a wallet functionality and as a first mover within the Aion ecosystem, it’s earned the trust of the community — thus it is the default wallet used by dApps. So the goal with Aion Pay isn’t to replace AIWA but to complement it.

Aion Pay
We developed Aion Pay to address some gaps we observed in how developers build dApps and how users interact with them. By copying a simple line of code and following our deployment instructions, developers can embed our widget directly into their dApp. Since the Aion Pay button is directly embedded into your dApp, users can use decentralized applications on multiple browsers without the need to download anything. We’ve also added a bunch of cool customization features to the widget that should make integration smooth. You’re able to customize the widget’s color and the text displayed on the widget. You can also preset the amount being sent as well as the address it’s being sent to.

What’s Next?
As mentioned, we’re building a toolbox to support blockchain development and we already have two tools in the pipeline that we hope will make developing dApps easier as well as provide users with an enjoyable experience. With the launch of Kokun, we hope to get some feedback from the community and look to see how we can improve and create value for both developers and users.
