Christianity: Defining Your Faith

It had been a while since I have written one of these but it has come of utmost importance to write on this subject and reaching as many people as possible. Obviously, I am a young guy, about to be 28 years old in April. However, let me point this out by old man Apostle Paul:

“Command and teach these things. Let no one despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, impurity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, and to teaching.…” — Paul to Timothy, 1 Timothy 4:11–13

So I ask that you read with that in mind. No matter how old or young you are, you judge the words of another by the Words of God in Scripture. Regardless of what you think of me, that does not matter. One of the main groups of people I have been ministering to are my own people. Those claiming Christ in their life. And the question is… between these two, which accurately describes your faith:

A Subjective Christianity:

Subjective Christianity is a faith that is more defined by your personal view of Scripture. When you believe that we can view the faith that was given to all saints in various ways and that’s okay. That our interpretation of Scripture doesn’t matter as much as how much we treat one another. Your faith is more spiritual than anything. So you may feel that it is okay to incorporate things and that one should not judge another’s faith or salvation because how can anyone of us know? It is only for the Lord to know and we simply live our lives. Subjective Christians are more open to hearing the voices of angels or God as opposed to reading the Word. Or trusting their feelings about a certain thing rather than checking on it.

An Objective Christianity:

Objective Christianity is a faith that is defined by a designated source. For many, that source is the Word of God. All things go through the scanner of the Word and you may be considered a bit paranoid and people don’t like you too much. When you open your mouth, people scatter or attack you. You are considered to be narrow minded, not Christ like and unloving. You judge things and have no issue calling out sin. You are wary of pagan practices and other things infiltrating the faith and the Body.

Obviously, I would fit into the latter. My faith is an objective one. The reason why I am so is because of a few things. Apostle Peter said:

“We also have the message of the prophets, which has been confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to this message, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comesfrom the prophet’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever brought about through human initiative, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.…” 2 Peter 1:19–21

And…

“ First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.” 2 Peter 3:3

I believe God wrote exactly what He meant and do not need assistance from us to re-imagine what He meant. To shorten this note: I want you to examine what I mention and ask yourself what is your faith considered?

Is it based on how you view Scripture or does Scripture cause your view to alter to that of Christ? One thing about early believers up until the 21st century, the Bible has always been the same however, we tend to alter words in order to make them palatable to our lives. We must be willing to allow God to transform our minds and hearts and recognize that we have the ability to know right from wrong, to research for ourselves.

Brothers and sisters, it is okay to ask and question one’s beliefs. Jesus said this:

“ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.” Matthew 24:4.

Don’t jump the gun, however, and accuse the person in question of being of Satan. But try to calmly talk to them and handle a civil discourse with the person. Judge all things you hear by the Word of God and if they are completely off from the Word, God says it is because there is no light in them.
