puts “Hello Ruby!!!”
Hi, my name is Lovelyn and I am New to Ruby

’’Ruby is the only language built for the happiness of the developer’’.- OKONKWO VINCENT IKEM
Those were my trainer’s words. Well I’m here to find out.
Today was my first attempt at Ruby as a whole. I have been hearing friends who work with Ruby say that it’s a very interesting language and I’m beginning to see reason. I have had a little experience with two other programming languages (JavaScript and Python), so I have something to compare it with.
Exploration…

Here are a few gems I have found from my exploration of ruby so far:
- Ruby is a fully interpreted language.
- It is a fully object oriented language (starts and ends with objects).
- It is a dynamic language and is not strongly typed.

Well this post is not for me to talk about the things I learnt, it’s more of things I want to learn during this two-week period.
Expectations…

I would really love to develop some of the skills I already possess and also pick up new things. They include the following:
- How to learn- Sounds funny but I would love to learn how to learn.
- Team Work- I will love to learn to be a better team player. How to learn from other members of the team.
- Soft and People Skills- Improve on effective communication.
- Feedback- Cultivate the habit of giving and receiving.
There are also a few things (gems) in Ruby that picked my interest and I will like to know more about them. They are:
- Ruby Frameworks
- Rails — ’cause it’s quite popular
-Sinatra — ’cause I want to know if has anything to do with Frank Sinatra (just kidding)
-Lotus
- Meta-programming — Heard you could make a lot of fun stuff with it.
- Dependency Injection.
- How to make bad-ass applications with Ruby and its Frameworks.
I am on a mission to find out if my trainer’s saying is true.
See you later at the mine!
Hasta La Vista!!!
Lovelyn
