Free-trade is people spending their money to communicate their perception of relative scarcity… which is constantly changing. Does education reflect these changes? To what extent are people free to use their money to communicate their perception of education’s relative scarcity? Are you able to allocate more or less of your hard earned tax dollars to education? Nope. Are you able to allocate more or less of your hard earned tax dollars to specific schools, colleges or universities? Nope. Are you able to allocate more or less of your hard earned tax dollars to specific departments within a specific university? Nope. Are you able to allocate more or less of your hard earned tax dollars to specific professors within a specific department within a specific university? Nope. Are you able to allocate more or less of your hard earned tax dollars to specific lectures by a specific professor within a specific department within a specific university? Nope.

Education is a solution to the extent that it’s guided by the Invisible Hand. To the extent that it’s guided by the Visible Hand… then education is a problem.
