When I first hit play on First Blush’s track, “Gold,” immediately I noticed how textured the track is. The production is complex; it’s melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic. The introduction is almost theatrical in presentation. The song is definitive of the “indie,” sound. It’s melancholy, not a sad track or happy track it’s a synth drenched melodic masterpiece. The vocals are eerily beautiful, the tone and pitch are consistent, and well-modulated. I love the sensual sounds used in the instrumentation coupled with some unorthodox bells and drums which give it a fuller effect. It’s this type of talent from an uncompromising vocalist plus sensual, theatric, dramatic production that results in an ambitious track from a group with a promising future.
